Re: PSOne Restart itself

Quite an interesting problem. I want to say it's probably power supply related. There might be a short on the drive mechanics somewhere which causes it to brownout and restart.

Re: How to transfer SEQ between games?

The VB file is the data file with all the sound data. The VH is the header. SEQ is different as it's more like MIDI data which actually tells the data file which data bank to play so you can actually hear a song constructed from different elements. Thank you for the explanation. Didn't know the VH ...

Re: PlayStation 1 SCPH-1001 NTSC

You should leave this mod. It's a colour burst frequency mod and without it, some of the SCPH-1000 series can crash with a black screen when changing video modes on a game which region isn't for your console.

Re: Can't make iso - tutorial not working

When I look into the .CTI file for the errors shown at the corresponding line numbers it says nothing of the sort. Any ideas? That happens if your directory path is too long. It's a bug in the long filename parser logic since it was designed for MS-DOS with the 8.1 filename system. Try putting your...

Some game programmers were clever and they would actually read the BIOS region to know if you were running on another system ;)

Re: Wich operative system?

DOS and Windows 3.1, but they quickly migrated a majority of their tools to the new Windows 95 standard. By the end of the PlayStation's life however, a lot of studios had made their own tools and as such ran under Irix and 32-bit Windows NT based systems.

Nice find. Good to have it archived here.

TIM's are pretty small already, but back then when everyone only had was dial-up Internet it would have made files just that much more smaller so it was in reach to more users.

Very impressive. A few bugs of course as mentioned by another user, but it looks like it's basically flawless. Original Yamaha YM2612 music from the game would be nice to have playing the audio tracks. If you wanted the newer remixes, you could have an option for it for users to select from :) :null...

Re: CdInit causes black screen

Try doing this and monitor the TTY output to see what the system is doing.

Code: Select all

ResetCallback(); // call this function at the absolute start of your program
CdSetDebug(3); // enable CD debugging
CdInit(); // initialise the CD-ROM subsystem

Finally, you're back NO$CASH! Thanks for adding the Psy-Q symbol support :praise I have found bugs in your emulator (to the point where the games wouldn't even boot), but I thought your emulator was abandoned so I didn't bother writing them down. If I remember them, I'll reply here so you're aware o...

The modchip license must match your HC05 licence or it will not boot.

Correct. If your PSX has a modchip, you don't need to do the swap trick.

Re: [WiP] Breakout for PSX

Really good potential and very impressive! Needs better physics though and the camera movement is too rough. Try to make the camera smoother, maybe by adding a delay and 'speed ramp' algorithm to it so it's more fluid ;) The paddle shape is weird too. Not sure why it's got a cut-out on it. You can a...

Re: Reverse Engineering the PSX Copy Protection (Wobble Groove)

Now I know that it's sort of bad form both to necro a topic as a first post, and also to continue to perpetuate a somewhat unbelieved bit of hearsay in the PSX world, but I started reading Sony's patent application for their copy protection, and it lead me down a somewhat interesting rabbit hole. A...
