Might be an intermittent connection on your parallel port, clean it and make sure it's connecting well.

Re: DIYing a plug that fits the PlayStation's parallel port to boot from a ROM

The connectors are available on aliexpress/digikey etc and require very little modification. Just the angled sides need squaring off and are around 1 USD each on aliexpress or around 6usd on digikey

You can but it would not make any difference. Its not the BIOS that enforces the region lock.

Re: Hi from the UK, just wanted to say hello and thank you

Hi and welcome :) Fellow UK'er here - t'other side of the Pennines though. Also worth noting.. if you are finding using the Yaroze setup/boot CD a bit slow - you can kinda work around it using UniROM. You can UPX LIBPS.EXE down to ~90kb. With unirom you can run LIBPS and let it exit, and then send o...

Plenty of guides around and if anyone wants one still drop me a message. I have a few cables left.

Prices have changed a little and need to check.

Re: online play through system link port

Different speeds and all handshaking lines used make it trickier.

Don't think anyone has tried.

Re: What were PS1 and N64 games written in?

Google around.. there have been reverse engineering projects on some of the tomb raider as well as source leaks (not linking them here). Most games were written in C with some ASM here and there. N64 was similar. If you want to see the tools used they used a lot of the standard development kits whic...

Re: Newer X-Flash Builds

Not on a psx.

On the Saturn and N64 its common as they use a 16bit bus for the eeprom access - hence two 8 bit chips.

The AR2/GS2 cheat cart designs do have two spaces for them, also LE means it's a 3.3v part which is also uncommon.

This is the last thing I thought it would ever see on running on a PSX.

Well done on your first homebrew :)

Re: Newer X-Flash Builds

You know how to use the command prompt?

You just cd to the folder (change directory) and type Nops.

It will tell you the options available and what command switches you need to use.

Re: I need help with mod (sound)

There has been an open source remake of that old player by Nicolas Noble..

See here :- https://github.com/grumpycoders/pcsx-re ... /modplayer

However you still need to load the data into memory from either CD, serial, parallel or by including it in your EXE

Re: hifi ps1 with screen selector

Best place to start is to write a cd player application.

You can then use the serial port of the playstation to interface to an Arduino that can control the playback and show the time/functions on tft

Re: Xplorer carts

Caetla is a ROM replacement for the cart that leans more towards software development rather than cheating/vmem type functions. The FX inbuilt ROM does support quite a bit itself, so I wouldnt personally recommend it unless you know how to use it. It doesnt always work so well with Xplorer FX carts ...

Booting great on my laser-less 5552 machine. Nice easy way to boot unirom for me :)

Also, for using the PS3 Memory Card adapter - see this thread http://www.psxdev.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3428
Orion wrote a tool for using it a while ago. Havent tried it myself however.

Re: Xplorer carts

I don't know of a way to do that I am afraid.

You may be able to get to the data using a serial cable etc and back it up, but it might be in a compressed format
