Is there visible trace damage on the board? Does the machine work after it warmed up? Is there a chip called CXD2922 on the board? Those CXD2922 (SPU chips) appear to be prone to failure. Hello, when I was opening up one of my spare SCPH-1001s, I happen to stumble upon a chip that was inside from a failed solder attempt. Open the console and whilst it's running, press on all the IC's one at a time whilst it boots up (except the power supply of course, don't touch that at all and stay clear of it!). Sounds like one of the chips isn't soldered well anymore, and I have a feeling it might be the RAM. You could be right...
